Abdirizak Muhumed

Mr. Abdirizak's educational background reflects his multidisciplinary interests. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Political Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), where his research critically examines "Unfinished Imperialism and lived experiences of people in Ogaden," exploring historical and contemporary political dynamics. Prior to his doctoral studies, he completed a Master of Arts in Political Studies at Wits University. In parallel with his academic endeavors, Mr. Abdirizak is actively involved in professional research. He currently serves as a research fellow at the Society, Work and Politics Institute (SWOP), where he engages in scholarly exploration and debate.


His research interests span a wide array of topics. These interests include the indigenization of state reconstruction in Somalia, comparative federalism, and identity politics in the Horn of Africa. His expertise also extends to areas such as Electoral Models, Comparative Politics, Social Theories of Modernity, and the complexities surrounding Institutions, Governance, and State Crisis in Africa. In addition to these, Mr. Abdirizak actively contributes to discussions on Postcolonial Imperialism, African Literature, and Decolonization.
